 Mission

The people of Evergreen Mennonite Church strive to be a community of believers living the Kingdom of God and equipping its members to speak the good news of Jesus Christ, primarily to individuals and communities on the east side of Lake Washington. Evergreen Mennonite Church emphasizes biblical teaching and the traditional Mennonite values of social consciousness and justice, believer’s baptism, pacifism, and the identification, nurture, and use of spiritual gifts. The members of Evergreen Mennonite Church strive to be a caring community, promoting spiritual maturity and faith in action through personal involvement with individuals and the community, taking seriously the call of discipleship.

Evergreen is committed to growing our faith through an active Sunday School program for preschoolers through adults. Sunday School meets weekly preceding worship. All ages are served and welcome! Members are active in many service areas, including Mennonite Disaster Service, supporting the Mennonite camping program at Camp Camrec, supporting the Mennonite Voluntary Service program in Seattle with Seattle Mennonite Church, an annual drive to fill Mennonite Central Committee school kits, fundraising relief efforts for crises around the globe, as well as involvement with local service projects such as hosting meals for the homeless Tent City encampments on the Eastside.

Commitment to Safety

The members of Evergreen Mennonite Church value the safety of all our members, especially children and vulnerable people. We commit to protecting their vulnerability and well-being while helping build faith. We also understand that no faith community is immune to the possibility of exploitation or abuse. We must be prepared in both knowledge and practice to prevent all types of abuse and neglect and to strengthen families. This policy applies to all church ministries, including but not limited to Sunday school, youth activities, and nursery.

We are committed to following and implementing a Safe Church Policy that follows best practices for a congregation of our size. The currenting edition of our Safe Church Policy can be found here:
